VRUK

I delivered a workshop at VRUK 2017 with Vanessa Pope and Shivani Hassard entitled – those of Sundowning collaboration – entitled ‘I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship: How three siblings (theatre, film and sound) finally learned to share’. I like to work backwards from a pithy title.

We workshoped how to approach narrative storyboarding in VR by blending theatre, film and sound design perspectives (which the three of us represent, respectively). It was reassuring how well people responded to our lo-fi approach to blocking… or storyboarding… or whatever you call the VR hybrid equivalent.

It was also great that the audience was almost entirely filmmakers and theatre practitioners. Ok, predictable that they would come to a workshop with the title it had. But encouraging that these people were in a VR conference
