IKO

This is the system I will be working with during my residency at the Institut für Elektronische Musik which is part of the Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst Graz. It sounds… delicious. It reproduces sound in space with clarity and definition, and interestingly does not require a ‘sweet-spot’ mindset, as it works from the …

society & the sea

Loud un-clear: marine acoustic pollution everyday listening (a performative presentation using spatial audio and headphones)   I guess Mariners aren’t really set up for performative presentations. Even within the arts, I might struggle to sell people on the idea of performative presentations for conferences. Not the people in the pews. The variability in quality of …

field recording Pembrokeshire

I was kind enough to myself to take a break recently, and record in the field just for fun (is getting up for dawn chorus fun?) Even at 5.30am at Dale Fort (a small peninsula near St David’s) at the furthest point west in the UK mainland before you fall into the sea, you can’t …

I like to work backwards from a pithy title. We workshoped how …

BiNCI User Group Tester

I was one of ten members of the user group selected in a call for submissions as early adopters of the immersive audio tools. As a result I’m producing a project with BINCI binaural audio technology, which will be used as a demo to show the potential their tools, and will be showcased at major music and …

mapping the kuikuro community at Tate Modern

I installed the Xingu Ensemble spatial audio for the People’s Palace Projects in spring 2018. This exhibition was inspired by the indigenous territory of Xingu. The oca structure in the exhibition takes audiences on a journey to the Ipatse Village visit, home of the Kuikuro indigenous people in the Xingu region of Brazil bästa-bredband.se, complete with ambisonic sound recordings of …
