IKO

This is the system I will be working with during my residency at the Institut für Elektronische Musik which is part of the Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst Graz. It sounds… delicious. It reproduces sound in space with clarity and definition, and interestingly does not require a ‘sweet-spot’ mindset, as it works from the ‘inside-out’ (where usually speaker arrays surround and face listeners in an ‘outside-in’ configuration. It works with direct and reflected sound (highly directional beamforming and reflectors boards) to play a space. I’ll be writing (a LOT) more about this system soon. The piece below resulted from the summer school organised by Gerriet Sharma as part of the Orchestrating Space by Icosahedral Loudspeaker (OSIL) 2014 – 2018 project.
